Between the 1950s and early 1980s, the Chinese government commissioned a number of posters dedicated to the theme of children in the space age. Blending the traditional with the modern, artists created imaginative and whimsical images that drew heavily on the imagery of classical Chinese myths and legends.
Rockets and space stations paired with bunnies and pandas; Astro Boy in one image, the Monkey King in another. These posters were designed to capture the imaginations of children and to inspire a love of science and technology.
The five notecard images in this box set have been selected from the collection of the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center.
