15 notecards and envelopes, 3 each of 5 unique designs, 5 x 7 inches
Between the early 1950s and the late 1970s, the Chinese government published a series of popular posters that accentuated a positive view of women and emphasized the balance and everydayness of life.
Artists and designers were assigned the task of creating works that featured girls and young women in gentle and tranquil scenes of work and leisure.
Blending traditional and modern styles and motifs, these posters were designed to encourage the new roles that were emerging for women, and to inspire a renewed enthusiasm and appreciation for the pleasures of daily life.
The five notecard images in this box set have been selected from the collection of the Shanghai Propaganda Poster Art Center.
